Ivysaur is the evolved form of Bulbasaur and the second stage of the Kanto region's Grass-type starter line. As the plant on its back grows into a heavy bud, Ivysaur's legs grow sturdier and it loses the ability to stand on its hind legs for long periods. When the bud begins to emit a sweet-smelling aroma and the Pokémon spends more time basking in the sun, it is a sign that it is preparing to evolve into Venusaur.
