Ruby is a petite high school girl with vibrant magenta-red hair styled into low twin tails and large, expressive turquoise eyes. She is most often seen in her Uranohoshi Girls' High School sailor uniform or elaborate, pink-themed school idol performance outfits.

Ruby is the younger daughter of the prestigious Kurosawa family in Uchiura and has loved school idols since she was a child. Despite her extreme shyness and initial hesitation to follow her dreams after her sister Dia's own failed idol attempt, she eventually joins the group Aqours. She works as the group's wardrobe supervisor alongside her best friend Hanamaru, finally embracing her passion for performance.
