He is a tall, slender man in his early thirties with waist-length straight black hair and piercing green eyes. He is almost always seen with a sour, sleep-deprived expression and dressed in a signature long crimson coat featuring gold shoulder ornamentations over formal attire. He frequently carries a cigar and possesses a dignified yet weary presence befitting a high-ranking academic.

Formerly known as Waver Velvet, he was a mediocre student who survived the Fourth Holy Grail War alongside his Servant, Iskandar. After returning to the Clock Tower, he took over the failing El-Melloi classroom to honor his late mentor and pay off the family's massive debts. He was eventually granted the title of Lord El-Melloi II by the family's heir, Reines, serving as a regent and a legendary professor known for producing top-tier students despite his own limited magical talent.
