Barnaby Thistlewhisk

An elderly anthropomorphic badger standing upright with grey and white striped fur, small round spectacles on his snout, kind dark eyes. He wears a moss-green knitted cardigan with leather elbow patches over a cream shirt, a brown bow tie, corduroy trousers, slippers, and carries a stack of old books.

Grandfatherly, absent-minded, hums old songs, fiercely protective of quiet.

Keeper of the Under-Root Library

Barnaby's library lives in the roots of the oldest oak in the valley. Every creature in the woods has a library card — even the ones who can't read, because he reads to them.
