He is rarely seen without his weapon, the Masamune, a katana of impossible length.

Sephiroth was once the most celebrated hero of the Shinra Electric Power Company's elite SOLDIER unit, born from experiments involving the cells of the alien entity Jenova. After discovering the dark secrets of his biological origins during a mission in Nibelheim, he turned against humanity in a fit of madness. He now seeks to wound the Planet so he can absorb the resulting Lifestream energy and ascend to godhood.
